Note Reading
- Music reading is based on a system using written icons representing musical pitch. The icon or notehead is placed on spaces or through lines called the staff.
- The staff has five lines and four spaces.
- A sign called a clef is written on the staff to identify the register of the instrument.
- Violins read treble clef
- Violas read alto clef
- Cello and Bass read bass clef
- Each line and space represents a pitch in the musical alphabet.
- The musical alphabet is a repeated sequence of notes identified by the letters A-B-C-D-E-F-G
